In his book entitled "A Living Faith: An Historical and Comparative Study of Quaker Beliefs," Wilmer A. Cooper writes: "Gladys Wilson, in her little book 'Quaker Worship,' suggests that four elements are emphasized in (George) Fox's concept of worship: silence, communion, ministry, and fellowship." Fox is one of the founders of the Friends movement.

Cooper also writes: "... 'silent waiting on the Lord' in an attitude of expectancy represents both the attitude and posture of traditional Quaker worship."

According to Dave Phillips, Wabash Friends Church pastor, "There is a slow movement back to historical roots in our country. This (worship) is part of our heritage.
