AFSC/War/Iraq/Boots/Soldier's family walks out/Tucson Citizen/Tucson/AZ/USA/2-Feb-07//The display - "Eyes Wide Open: The Human Cost of War" - is sponsored by the American Friends Service Committee, a Quaker social justice organization, Organizers had sent Byrd's family an invitation, assuring them that the traveling display would not be a protest or demonstration. But when Jessica Pettit, a UA student who helped organize the event, referred to soldiers as "death machines," the family turned and left.
The event is not intended to be political or moral, Pettit said.
"I don't want to bring morality into it. . . . It's not about morality or politics," she said.
She called the display a "tiny dose" of reality that can help others understand the cost of the war.

AFSC/War/Iraq/Boots/Boots represent fallen US soldiers/The Register-Mail/Galesburg/IL/USA/13-Feb-07//The exhibit, called "Eyes Wide Open," is a traveling memorial put together by the American Friends Service Committee, a pacifist Quaker organization. Knox College's Alliance for Peaceful Action worked with AFSC to bring the exhibit to Galesburg for a two-day stint. It will be on display today from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
